PM Vishwakarma Yojana 2023 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the PM Vishwakarma Yojana in New Delhi on September 17. The central government yojana aims to provide government support to workers involved in traditional crafts and skills. It was first announced during Modi’s Independence Day speech on August 15,2023. The scheme is also seen as a way for the government to connect with economically disadvantaged and socially backward communities, especially the Other Backward Classes (OBC) groups.

PM Modi announced the PM Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana, which offers loans up to 3 lakhs without needing a bank guarantee. The interest rate is also very low. Initially, a loan of 1 lakh will be given, and once it is repaid, an additional 2 lakhs will be provided to Vishwakarma partners.

PM Vishwakarma Portal 2023

The government has launched a new PM Vishwakarma Portal that costs Rs 13,000 crore. This yojana is funded entirely by the Central government. On Vishwakarma Puja Jayanti, the government will give Rs 13,000-15,000 crore to people from the OBC community who have traditional skills and work with tools and their hands. This includes carpenters, goldsmiths, masons, laundry workers, barbers, and others. As Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi announced this Independence day on August 15.

In the launch event PM Narendra Modi discussed the challenges faced by people who have been practicing traditional crafts and skills for many years. These individuals have often learned these skills from older family members. Some of the problems they face include not having proper training or modern tools, being far away from the markets that are important for their work, and not having enough money to invest.

The Prime Minister stated that families involved in 18 different sectors will receive assistance in various ways such as:-

The PM Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana helps Vishwakarma workers and artisans develop in various ways. Here are some important aspects of this scheme:-

1. Free Registration: Vishwakarma workers can register for the scheme for free. The registration process is easy and can be done through Common Services Centres. The PM Vishwakarma portal will use biometrics for registration.
2. Recognition and ID: Beneficiaries of the scheme will get a special certificate and ID card. This recognition shows their skills and makes them feel proud and included.
3. Skill Upgradation: Skill development is a key part of the scheme. Vishwakarma workers can take basic and advanced training programs to upgrade their skills.
